The Lunch BoxBible Bitesize now features a new supplementary feature called The Lunch Box, which has appeared on the Christ Church News & Information sheets from September.

As you know, Bible Bitesize is the part of our morning gatherings at Christ Church that focuses in on Bible teaching for the whole family, especially the children. The Lunch Box is designed to be a take-home addition to the teaching in each Bible Bitesize. Starting with the verse from the morning Bible Bitesize, The Lunch Box features a question or thought that we can talk about with our friends and families over lunch or at a suitable time later on.

The idea behind The Lunch Box is to provide a straight forward and helpful way for us all to easily pick up and continue teaching God’s Word from the Bible Bitesize in the morning gatherings. Although the focus of The Lunch Box is teaching our children, it is nonetheless just as applicable to a 50 year old as it is to a 5 year old.

Speaking about passing on the truths of God to our families, Moses tells us to ‘impress them on [our] children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.’ (Deuteronomy 6:7-9 ). Well, The Lunch Box is designed to be a simple way to embed the truths of God’s Word in our everyday family life.

Using The Lunch Box is simple. For example, if your family has a Sunday lunchtime meal together you could begin by reminding yourselves of the Bible verse and then think about the discussion question together. Alternatively, you could save The Lunch Box for a time during the week. For instance, you could keep the News & Information sheet in the car and use The Lunch Box to start a conversation whilst fulfilling your role as a parental taxi driver!

We hope that The Lunch Box will be useful for us all, and would love to hear your feedback as we give it a try.
